Watershot for iPhone App Reviews

Decent for sure, app not 100% yet

App stops working when the 20% and 10% battery life warning shows up, only way to get the app working again is to get out of the water and by pass the warning. Also there needs to be a way you can zoom while under water.

Unusable Toy

App is super unstable. Top two defects: Often wont stop recording video and phone needs to be cycled down and restarted or app removed and reinstalled. But worse, saves video clips some times but not always!! Thus dashed off software renders a decent housing useless.

No good

As other reviews have stated the housing is great the app/software are HORRIBLE. 1) the visibility for the diferent functions is really bad unless the lighting is perfect outside and lighting is rarely perfect outside especially in the water. It would help if the icons were larger and brighter. 2) as stated earlier video wont stop recording once it starts. If I push the button to stop it progressively films faster and faster. 3) I have had this for almost 1 1/2 years and I think there has been ONE UPDATE for the app. Save your money and buy a gopro. Thats what Im going to do.

Fixx !

I started to record videos and it kept saying it was recording when i pressed stop. And when i got out of the water to look at my videos it only showed 1 video. Fix ASAP !

Horrible

I took it out today, and the app crashed multiple times. It would freeze and crash every time I hit the review button. Also, when I switched to video mode, it would not stope recording. I found it to be at 600 seconds of recording, and when I hit the stop button, it would still say its recording. Such a headache. And when I went back to my car to review my videos, only a few showed up. I payed so much money for the case, but it isnt worth it if I cant even use it without a conventional app. This is unacceptable.

Crash on start up.

My 5s running iOS 7.1.2 keeps crashing on start up. App used to work fine before this update. Otherwise it is a decent app when used in conjunction with the water housing.

Crashes - wont open

Bought the housing and downloaded the app specifically for a trip to Mexico. Now Im here, and the app, which worked fine at home, isnt working. Huge, huge, huge disappointment on a dive trip.

HORRIBLE - App crashes as soon as you open it

Upgraded to 1.6.3 with my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.2) yesterday and the app keeps crashing right away after it displays the Watershot logo. Please fix this ASAP!

It WAS a great app...but...

When I first got this app is was awesome, but now it crashes all the time when I try to view my pics. It closes out. Not happy with it anymore so I deleted it. I dont recommend this app.

I like

Not sure why the all the other reviews say its not the best Ive had good luck with this app and case with the 5s. Takes amazing clarity of ocean bottom as well as fresh water, the focus lock is key for filming fish!

Update

Why would you have the case for the iphone 6 but not have an update for the app...need to make a app for the iphone 6 case other then that awesome case for underwater

Great concept, but not so great execution

The housing is excellent: well-constructed and easy to carry. I decided to try it out during my trip to Indonesia, where I planned to do few dives. First of all, the app drains the battery like crazy: after 50mins dive it depleted it to about 45%. Of course the battery ran out on my second dive. I would recommend dimming the display as much as possible and carry a small charger to charge phone between dived. Far worst, only the first video got recorded!! Rest did not appear in the photos. Also, almost half of still shots were missing! I emailed the company and they advised me to call them. Kind of difficult when youre in Indonesia!! Will call them later and hopefully the issue will be resolved.

Great combo

Casing works well, no water has gotten through. Love the ability to toggle between video and photo so easily. In regards to battery life, I try to have my phone at least 40% if I go surfing for an hour. At 20%, iPhone will notify you of low battery, thus youre screwed. To people complaining about battery, if you video tape for an hour, not the apps fault if it drains battery... Highly recommend

Great for our snorkeling trip!

We used this app on 2 iPhone for a snorkeling trip. One iPhone was set for video and the other was set for doing photos. I definitely recommend getting to know which buttons to push prior to going in the water. I failed to do so so I was constantly pushing buttons. I did get some AWESOME shots even with my flailing. The casings worked great on both iPhones. The buttons are a little stiff, but that is better than being too flimsy.

Misplaced focus lock button

Focus lock button appeared on the upper right hand corner instead of lower right hand corner - no button to push! What gives?

Lost several videos and horrible photo quality

App lost most of the videos I took on several dives. As in, I recorded the videos, it said it saved them, but they were nowhere to be found. Also photos are cropped and not full resolution of iPhone 6 camera. Very disappointed because the housing is great, but this app needs work.

Meh ...

First, the case: Even though the case I purchased was “made” for the iPhone 5, the buttons do not really line up, which causes some problems taking the phone out of sleep mode. Also, it is a bit difficult to adjust the shot parameters while underwater (e.g. ISO, speed). The case IS sturdy and waterproof, so in that respect, it works as advertised. The software: The iPhone 5 has that ability to record images in a high-res TIFF format at 12MP (see, e.g. ProCamera). THIS app, however, chooses a 6MP JPEG format that is so noisy and muddy that the images are barely usable for anything better than a Facebook Posting. MAJOR PROBLEM - when a notification comes up (e.g. low battery, calendar) there is no way to dismiss the popup. This renders the entire app useless. BOTTOM LINE - the case costs a whopping $130, and the app is free (ok, $2.99 for the “advanced”). All in all, it is NOT, by ANY STRETCH, adequate for anything more than the occasional Facebook post. Still, it’s a LOT cheaper than a camera and housing.

Please fix zoom bug

Concept is great and am looking forward to using my new housing on a dive trip soon. Problem is if you select zoom the whole screen zooms and you lose app controls. If theres a setting to change on the phone should advise on it.

App alters frame rate. Doesnt film at 60 fps.

I just want a housing that will allow me to access the functionality of my camera. Why cant Watershots app merely facilitate this instead of getting in the way by altering my chosen video settings of 1080p at 60fps?! App support link is a broken link.

Watershot review

Great for beginners. Use the app to control your phone underwater and either get good video and flash lights or if you are in clear water good vis just use the red filter. Some pictures from my iphone are as good as those taken by my friends 1,500$ cannon
